WATER'S EDGE

Make the best of the activities available at the numerous lakes in Madame de Sévigné’s Country.

La Valière artificial lake (between Vitré and Erbrée).
Much appreciated for fishing (100 ha) and also for walking and horse-riding as there is a 6km track around the lake.

Cantache  artificial lake. (between Montreuil-sous-Pérouse and Champeaux, Pocé les Bois).
This superb recently-built artificial lake provides good fishing and walking facilities.

Haute Vilaine  artificial lake (in the communes of St M’Hervé, Bourgon  and Chapelle Erbrée).
This 150ha lake is used for sailing, sailboarding, rowing, and bathing. You can of course just relax or play on the beach. The view of the Nétumières, a15th century fortified manor-house, adds to the charm.

Châtillon-en-Vendelais Lake.
This natural lake is the home of the department’s ornithological reserve. It is also used for watersports, pedalo and sailing. Fishing pontoons are available. There is also a campsite.

Moulin Neuf Lake (Argentré-du-Plessis).
Pathways have been made for walkers, and play areas for children.

Le Pertre Lake
A fine beach, good walking opportunities, a mini-golf course and a play area for children.

Carcraon Lake (near Domalain, south of Vitré)
This superb lake is reputed for good fishing and is ideal for walking.
