HERITAGE WORKSHOPS

The Tourist Office and the Town Heritage service organize heritage workshops during term-time. These concern pupils from nursery school to secondary school level, and can be adapted for older pupils.
 
With the help of learning tools adapted to each school level, pupils play an active part in the workshops.

The monuments the children discover illustrate what they have learnt in their history lessons and make the architectural heritage easier to understand.

Their curiosity awakens their observation skills, and building techniques are more easily grasped. Their vocabulary grows richer and more precise.

Town workshop

Cycle 2 : Comparison of the town today and the town during the Middle Ages.

Cycle 3 : A game, entitled «An Eventful Day with Gilles de Gennes » introduces children to notions of defence, and to the climate of insecurity that prevailed during the middle ages.

Castle workshop

A model of the castle which can be assembled period-by-period is used to teach the children how the castle developed before they observe the real thing.

Cycle 2 : Vitré castle in the 15th century.

Cycle 3 : Evolution of Vitré castle through the ages (romanesque, 15th, 19th and 20th centuries).

Secondaire : Evolution of Vitré castle through the ages (romanesque, 13th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries).

Duration of workshops :

2nd cycle : 1 to 1 1/2 hours
3rd cycle and secondary school 1 1/2 to 2 hours
